COVID-19: support for businesses
The Chancellor has set out targeted measures to support businesses through this period of disruption caused by COVID-19. See full guidance notes here.

This includes a package of measures to support businesses including:

  • a statutory sick pay relief package for SMEs
  • a Business Rate Relief for small businesses and pubs
  • small business grant funding of £3,000 for all business in receipt of Small Business Rates Relief (SBRR) and Rural Rates Relief
  • the Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme to support long-term viable businesses who may need to respond to cash-flow pressures by seeking additional finance
  • the HMRC Time To Pay Scheme

It’s great that the government has put this in place but it may still not be enough for really small businesses, especially the businesses run by single mums or women with disabilities, etc. Many are already living hand to mouth and the slightest change in their income could be devastating for the entire household. What we don’t want to do is force women who are doing their best to end up on the benefits system unnecessarily. We propose that bigger businesses who are able to lend a hand to really small businesses do so by offering financial support or mentoring.

With this in mind please see our Emergency Fund at www.womensbusiness.club/emergency-fund

Even the smallest bit of help could save a small business, don’t think your contribution would be too small. Every bit helps.
