Right now, many of your employees may be working from home as we continue to battle the COVID-19 pandemic. However, that does not mean that you can stop thinking about your office. In fact, you must ensure it is ready and waiting for them when it is safe to return. In many cases, it may be that your office needs a makeover!

With that in mind, here are some small things you can do to transform your office in 2021!

1: Start with a deep clean

To best protect your employees’ health and safety, you must ensure that your office space is kept clean and tidy, especially given the current situation. Therefore, you should begin your office makeover with a deep clean of the space. This means far more than running a brush over the floors and wiping down surfaces; you need to clean the room from top to bottom.

You should also focus on the areas that may not be cleaned very often, such as your air ducts. Companies such as DeductLTD, offer expert ductwork cleaning services for businesses such as office blocks and hygiene facilities.

During this time, you may wish to lay out social distancing stickers and hand sanitising stations.

2: Remove the clutter

Although it may not seem that way, clutter can truly limit your productivity on a daily basis. It makes it harder to find exactly what you need and can also negatively impact your mood. Studies have shown that a clean and organised office space can change the way our business operates. Therefore, you can transform your office by removing any clutter. Go through old documents, dispose of those you no longer need, and safely and securely file the others. This may mean you need to invest in more storage solutions, such as filing cabinets or shelves. Alternatively, you may want to consider going paperless or limiting the amount of paper you use.

3: Out with the old

We live in a society that is dependent upon technology. As a result, you likely use a computer every day in order to do your job. However, if you are using outdated equipment, you may not be able to run the latest software. This means that a task that should only take a few minutes takes much longer. Additionally, older devices are more likely to break. Therefore, one way in which you can transform your office in the new year is by switching out old equipment for newer models. Though this is a considerable cost, it is an investment in the success of your company.

4: Make the most of natural light

Natural lighting can have a real effect on your mood and productivity. Studies have shown that natural lighting, when utilised properly, can help employees focus more at work, as it helps fight signs of fatigue. Therefore, you should try to ensure the layout of your office utilises natural light. You can do this by ensuring that employees have desks close to the window, removing blinds, or installing a skylight.
