Pause, Pivot, and Proceed
Let’s take it back one year ago when the word “COVID” didn’t exist and we were just learning about Coronavirus. At different points in our lives, our priorities evolve. This happens with the natural flow of time, but can also happen when something dramatically changes in our lives. Coronavirus was an extremely dramatic change for the whole world. It forced me to rethink my priorities. Being forced to “pause” gave me time to reflect on where my life had been heading, time to review what I really wanted to achieve and why, and to rethink how I could make that happen. You know all those thoughts you put aside in the cobwebbed corners of your mind? Those thoughts that become easily dismissed for “later” but you lose track of time and forget to get back to them? HA! Thankfully, I found the time to PAUSE.
Pausing leads to pivoting. It’s not too late to start thinking about what you CAN do. Use what and who you are in a new way. Think outside the box. Find an outlet or avenue that is open and see where it leads. Find what you are passionate about and use that passion to set new goals. When you start to see traction, start to see that you’re truly making strides towards something more, something you care about, something exciting; you will find purpose not in the achievement but in the pursuit. It’s truly about enjoying the journey. No matter what we are going through, it’s always so much easier when we’re not going through it alone. I’m telling you this because some of you are making decisions every single day that push happiness further into a future that you could potentially never reach. Not making a decision IS a decision. Not choosing to get help is choosing to stay stuck. Not standing back up from whatever knocked you down IS a decision. I know it’s hard and it’s scary and maybe you’re not sure what to do but I swear to you that life can be beautiful again.
