I’m MG Vaciago, I’m a children’s author, motivational speaker and mum of three. My business began out of heartache, as one of my sons had been relentlessly bullied for a number of years and I wrote an empowering children’s book, Big Little Voice Colours the Grey, to help him deal with the situation. The success of this book sparked the Big Little Voice® book series and started my business. My books are empowering children’s books that address issues that children may struggle with, such as bullying, low self-esteem and bereavement, to name a few. I also run empowerment workshops, creative writing workshops and author presentations in schools and children’s community groups.
Being involved in the Women’s Business Awards was an amazing experience as it allowed me to shine a light on my business and also gave me the opportunity to meet other award nominees, network and find out about their businesses. I entered the ‘Business Mum of the Year’ category because I have three children and I love being a mum, but I am also very passionate about my business, so I wanted to share with everyone that with hard work and determination, you can successfully combine the two roles. I was absolutely thrilled to have won the ‘Business Mum of the Year’ award and particularly enjoyed reading the comments people made about why they voted for my business.
Through participating in the Women’s Business Award, I have been able to meet many exceptional businesswomen, and I gained lots of insights into how others run and manage their businesses. Being the ‘2023 Business Mum of the Year award winner’ is a badge of honour that I wear with pride. It reminds me that hard work and determination pays off and that if you do something with love and purpose you will be recognised.
I would recommend you enter the award as not only will it increase your business’s exposure; it will also remind you of why you created the business in the first place and it will help you to redefine your business goals and the mission of the business. You will be joining a wonderful community of business women all at various stages of their career, and make some great new contacts.
I have two new books being published in May 2024; the 4th book in the Big Little Voice® series, and my first picture book, so I am very excited about that. I also have various manuscripts that I am working on and hope to publish more books soon. I will also be continuing to run my empowerment and creative writing workshops and also my author presentations.
