In the vibrant world of small businesses, networking can be a game-changer. In 2022, I decided it was time to rekindle my networking journey. It all began with a simple act of nominating a friend for a small business award, but little did I know that this would set the stage for a remarkable journey in my own professional life.
My journey into the world of networking started when I nominated my friend for a small business award. A small gesture to simply boost morale and remind her what an incredible businesswoman she is. Both my friend and I were in need of a morale boost for our respective businesses, and this nomination turned out to be the catalyst we needed. Witnessing my friend’s victory when she won, I felt an irresistible urge to explore the possibilities that networking could offer.
In January 2023, I stumbled upon a golden opportunity that I couldn’t resist. I saw that the Women’s Business Club was on the lookout for leaders, and as a natural leader in my previous corporate career, I found myself drawn to this role. What attracted me even more was the club’s profound mission and inspiring backstory. Without hesitation, I signed up.
I was keen to get started and with the Women’s Business Club’s support, I embarked on a new venture in January 2023. I launched my first Coffee & Coworking club in Bristol. This initiative allowed me to connect with women in my local area, many of whom I had seen locally or during the school run but had no idea about their incredible businesses and careers. I met women running female-only businesses, thriving in corporate roles, excelling as property investors, and leading local charities. The connections were not only inspiring but also fueled organic knowledge sharing, referrals, and connections.
My journey with the Women’s Business Club didn’t stop at local networking events. I also started utilising the My Success Story membership. Having been in business for three years, I had invested significantly in various courses and programs. However, the resources and training available through the Women’s Business Club were a revelation. I found a wealth of knowledge, tools, and strategies all conveniently gathered in one place. I refreshed my coaching skills, learned new techniques, and honed my social media strategies. The platform provided me with an avenue to promote my business and connect with a supportive community.
My connection with Angela, the driving force behind the Women’s Business Club, was instantaneous. Angela’s inspiring and humorous personality resonated with me from the beginning. Our collaboration began when I reached a critical juncture in my career. I was contemplating taking a job I didn’t want, considering the need to supplement my income while growing my coaching business. However, Angela recognised my passion for Women’s Business Club and its mission. She offered me the opportunity to lead the South West franchise, a role that aligned perfectly with my aspirations. It was a turning point that I have never regretted.
Today, my journey has brought me to a place of purpose and fulfillment. I work daily with women who, like me, are on a mission to make a difference in the business world. I have found a supportive work family, always ready to lend a helping hand day or night. My business has thrived, and I have discovered my niche – supporting women in midlife to cultivate a positive relationship with their bodies and find peace within themselves.
My story is a testament to the transformative power of networking, mentorship, and a shared mission. Through my dedication and the Women’s Business Club’s support, I’ve not only realised my potential but am now helping other women do the same.
